Kids Bedroom Organization in Walton, KY
Kids bedroom organization in Walton, KY, start to finish: a boys’ bedroom in Walton, Kentucky where the floor had disappeared under it. Here is how we decluttered it and the boys got it back.
Before: what this Walton bedroom looked like
This boys’ bedroom had become cluttered with toys, clothes, books and everyday essentials, which made it difficult to keep organized.
Clothes and shoes had spread across the carpet until there was no clear path through the room. The cube shelf by the window was full past the point of being useful, and the loft bed had turned into the place things landed rather than a place to sleep. Nothing was lost, exactly. It just could not be found.
How to organize a kids' bedroom, step by step
We use the same four steps on every job. In a kids’ room they look a little different, because the person who has to maintain it is eight.
Pull — Everything came out from under the bed and off the floor. With children’s rooms this is the stage where you find out how much of it is genuinely played with.
Purge — We sorted with the boys, not around them. Keep, donate, let go. Children are better at this than most people expect when they are the ones deciding.
Plan — Storage went in at their height, not ours. A cart of clear drawers by the window for the small things that always ended up on the carpet.
Place — Toys went back grouped by type, in bins a child can carry and put away without help. That is the part that makes it hold.
After: what changed in this bedroom
The result was a clean, organized bedroom with plenty of space to play, relax and recharge.
The carpet is clear from the door to the window. The play area under the loft bed has toys grouped by type, so they go back where they came from without anyone being asked twice. Best of all, the systems were built so the boys can maintain the room independently, which makes life a little easier for the whole family.
Kids bedroom organization in Walton, KY: questions we hear
How long does it take to organize a kids' bedroom?
Most single bedrooms are one session. Shared rooms and rooms that double as playrooms sometimes run into a second. We would rather work at your pace than rush the sorting, because that is the part that decides whether it lasts.
Will my kids actually keep it organized?
They will if the system fits them. Bins at child height, grouped by type, with room to spare so things do not have to be forced back in. We design for a tired eight-year-old on a school night, not for a photograph.
Do you organize kids' rooms in Walton, Kentucky?
Yes. We are based in Union and work across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati — Walton, Independence, Covington, Elsmere, Park Hills, Alexandria, Crescent Springs and Demossville. Have a look at more before and after projects, or see how home organizing works.
